Asian Brilliant Stars Programme Builds a New Platform for Cinematic Cooperation and Development Between Asia and Europe
AFTP has collaborated with the Beijing Film Academy and the Actor Committee of the CRTA to hold the first Asian Brilliant Stars programme during the 67thBerlinale. Based on strict criteria, the Asian Brilliant Stars jury has established awards for Best Director, Best Screenwriter and Best Producer. The winners are recognised for their inspiring creativity, impressive storytelling and ability to establish an integrated team for successful film sales and distribution. By presenting the winners and their impressive work to the world, the Asian Brilliant Stars programme will fully demonstrate Asia’s profound cultural heritage and social values, while helping to enhance the global popularity and influence of Asian filmmakers.
Furthermore, the panel “On casting Chinese actors for co-productions” will be held at the EFM on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. This kind of cultural exchange will help inspire new ideas for international filmmaking, investment and cooperation, as well as establish new platforms for cinematic development and communication between Asia and Europe.
“We are very delighted and honored to be invited to attend the awarding dinner for the first edition of Asian Brilliant Stars on February 12，which is hosted by AFTP in collaboration with the Beijing Film Academy and the Actor Committee of the CRTA,” said Hou Guangming, Chairman of the Council of Beijing Film Academy and Honorary President of Asian Brilliant Stars Committee. Richard Shen, Secretary-General of the AFTP, said, “Asian Brilliant Stars is aimed at facilitating artistic exchange and mutual understanding between Europe and Asia, promoting cinematic cooperation between the two continents, and expanding areas of mutual investment. In the future, Asian Brilliant Stars will broaden its scope to every field in the film industry. The programme will help more Asian filmmakers achieve worldwide stardom by selecting candidates from other Asian countries like South Korea, Japan and Thailand.”
